Episode 68: Superman: Man of Steel

And we're back. Seth returns to the fold as the Ancillary Characters buckle down for a Superman-centric episode 68.

In the intro they read your letters. They're mostly about Superman.

They ignore the news entirely, and leap into a lengthy review of Man of Steel. Now, you may have heard a lot about this movie online and you probably think you know what we thought... but you'll have to listen because, hey, maybe we'll surprise you. Also, sorry if we offend anyone with our detailed and staunch stand on the film.

Then we review Superman: Birthright by Mark Waid and Leinil Yu. Did we take it or leave it? You'll have to listen to find out.

Then we make some Superman book suggestions. Stuff like Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow, Secret Identity, Kingdom Come and For All Seasons are mentioned. And more.

Brand New Feature: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys #1 (Dark Horse Comics)

by Gerard Way, Shaun Simon, Becky Cloonan

No longer needing to hide from his claim to fame, Gerard Way has combined his music career and his love of comics into this new story, The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys, from Dark Horse Comics. Originally doing his best to separate the two so as to let his first work, The Umbrella Academy, rest on its own merits, Way is now presenting a story that is also the basis for My Chemical Romance's final album, Danger Days. The story is dense, and like Brian K. Vaughan's Saga, it drops readers in this new world, filled with a lot of unfamiliar elements and language. Ultimately, this first issue is pretty well handled and the art is incredibly lively.

Episode 67: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

This week, the Ancillary Characters (minus Seth) delve back into the world of comics, with a small foray into other areas of multimedia! We talk E3 news, the new Hobbit trailer, and comics, of course! The boys review the Wake #1, New Avengers #6, East of West #3, Daredevil: End of Days and more!

And to cap things off, we review TMNT: Change is Constant (plus issue 5, just for kicks)! Come join us as we take a journey through all things Turtles. ANd yes, there is lots of blubbering...
